In his review of the first book, Dr Haji Tassim highlighted that it illustrates the political situation of the Sultanate of Brunei in the 19th century and the influence of the British in Brunei through James Brooke who managed to acquire Limbang while the British North Borneo Company (BNBC) had acquired Sabah. Despite their influence, Sultan Hashim, the 25th Sultan of Brunei, successfully defended the existence of Brunei Sultanate as well as safeguarding Brunei’s philosophy, Malay Islamic Monarchy.

In his review of the second book, Dr. Haji Muhammad Hadi stated Brunei’s philosophy of the Malay Islamic Monarchy had existed in Brunei for over 600 years, and it has adjusted well into the way of life among Bruneians. He also mentioned that this philosophy could lead Bruneians towards peaceful and harmonious life not only in the present but as well in the future.

These speeches were followed by souvenir giving ceremony to the book authors, the guest of honour and the book reviewers. The ceremony ended with a group photo session with the guest of honour. The books launched were also sold during the ceremony at a discounted price of $10.00 each, as their usual price is $15.00 for Politics of the Brunei Sultanate 1804 – 1906: Enduring the Storm to the Blessed Shores and $13.00 for Melayu Islam Beraja, The Malay Islamic Monarchy in Negara Brunei Darussalam Prior to 1906: A Historical Study.
