Even though S2 was talking about Brunei and the environment, S1 was unable to understand rain forest, and she asked him about wind. S2 then tries to explain it, and in fact in his attempted explanatation, he does have a clearer [r] at the start of rain; but even with this explanation, S1 was unable to transcribe rain forest correctly. She knew the wind forced was not right, but she could not come up with a better guess.
Misunderstanding heart as hot is not too surprising, as hot would be pronounced as [hɑ:t] by many people, especially those influenced by an American accent.
