    Full Title : British Racial Perceptions and the Business of Empire: Sir James Brooke and the Indigenous Cultures of Sarawak.

    Brief Outline :

    For this joint project I will be submitting a paper that will examine Raja James Brooke’s perceptions of the indigenous population of Brunei. In general the research will seek to fit developments in Sarawak into mid-nineteenth century debates concerning the treatment of indigenous peoples.
