    Brief Outline

A Slice of Light: A Stroke in Time is a collaborative artistic research project between two faculty members of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, who will engage in contemporary digital photography and imaging to record the natural wonders found in the tropical forest of Ulu Temburong National Park in Brunei Darussalam. This practice-based research is set to explore the digital images that are created through documentation and aesthetic framing of natural objects found in the tropical forest in Temburong with substantial discourse in support of the work. From an artistic perspective, the tropical forest region around the Kuala Belalong Field Studies Centre in Temburong is inspirational place that need to be seen as having visual merit, as well as scientific value. The aim of this practice-based enquiry in digital photography and imaging is meant to allow viewers to transcend the scenic notions of a tropical forest, and get to know these magnificent places in terms of personal interpretation and spatial relationships. This series of digital prints will be displayed at a two-person exhibition in UBD in March 2015 with an online exhibition. Also, this research will be presented as individual papers in the Sixth Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities in April 2015. After the exhibition and conference presentation, the manuscripts will be submitted for consideration by relevant referred journals to publish.
