Southeast Asia: A Multidisciplinary Journal (SEAMJ) marked its 20th year of publication in 2020, having been published annually by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) since 1999. The journal is open access, bilingual, and features articles in both English and Malay, with a disciplinary range that encompasses the whole of the arts, social sciences and humanities.

While the regional focus of the journal is Southeast Asia and, therefore, most of the articles reflect and relate to this geographical region, articles may still be considered if the topics are of relevance and have significant implications for the region. SEAMJ aspires to become a leading platform for the publication of original and path-breaking research catering to Southeast Asian regional and global readership.
