Field Trip to Kampong Ayer

Kampong Ayer is an area of Brunei’s capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan, and it is located on Brunei Bay in Brunei Darussalam. It consists of 42 contiguous stilt villages built along the banks of the Sungai Brunei and Sungai Kedayan.

Considering its physical characteristics, buildings and housing pattern, geographical location, and cultural activities, Kampong Ayer may be considered a World Cultural Heritage site within the UNESCO site selection criteria.

For justification of the site selection criteria, an in-depth study and a field trip were organized. These activities study was in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Module AD/AV-3307 Sustainability Research through Experiential Learning in Academic Semester II 2016/2017.
