Film-Induced Tourism
On Thursday, 21 May 2019, Dr Yong Liu presented a FASS seminar entitled 'Film-Induced Tourism Development in Brunei', discussing the research he has done together with Dr Shirley Chin Wee Lee on the potential for films made in Brunei to encourage tourists to visit the sites seen in the films.
The Brunei Tourism Development Department sponsored the crew and actors of Apa Apa Dengan Rena to visit Temburong. Might people who enjoyed the film also be encouraged to visit Temburong?
In July 2018, the short film The Worm and the Widow won the top prize in the Network of Asian Fantastic Films category at the 22nd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) in South Korea; and in October 2018, the director of this film, Abdul Zainidi, won the prestigious Purin Award at the Busan Asian Film School (AFIS).
